Spot Market Freight Hits 5-Year Peak

TransCore announced Sept. 16 its North American Freight Index achieved its highest level for August since 2005.Spot market freight availability in August increased 75 percent over August 2009. Arizona Reopens More Rest Areas

The Arizona Department of Transportation has opened four more rest areas along state highways. Rest areas at Bouse Wash (I-10), Hassayampa (US 60), Haviland (I-40) and McGuireville (I-17) are now open.
This puts the total number of operational rest areas around Arizona at 14. ADOT reopened five rest areas this summer.Four additional rest areas - Mazatzal (SR 87), Mohawk (I-8), Parks (I-40) and Salt River Canyon (US 60) - will remain closed due to serious repair issues. John Manering - Highway Angel

John Manering, a driver for Minstar Transport of Eagan, Minn., was named a Highway Angel by the Truckload Carriers Association for helping minimize a victim's pain at the scene of an accident.
On April 28, Manering witnessed an accident at the interchange of I-35 and U.S. Highway 65, southeast of Albert Lea, Minn. He saw a pickup truck improperly pull in front of a dump truck; both vehicles were hauling heavy loads for their size.
